Q. Where is The Wool Shack based?
A. The Wool Shack is based in a suburb north of Perth CBD, called Inglewood. If you are wanting to collect an order, you can choose the 'local pick up' option and we will email you our details to arrange a suitable collection time.

A. Please note, if you order an item that has been highlighted as * OUT OF STOCK * this item will be shipped separately when available at an additional postage cost, unless you request that the order is sent together in the 'comments' section of your shopping cart.

Items that are NOT marked as * OUT OF STOCK * but have sold out at the time of your purchase, will be forwarded separately at no extra cost to our customers.

Q. Can I come and collect my order from you?
A. We do not have a shop front, so are not set up for browsing. However, if you live locally, and would like to collect your order, we are happy for you to do this.

Simply choose the 'local pick up' option when you checkout and we will email you to arrange a collection time and our address (our suburb is Inglewood, for your reference).

Q. Does The Wool Shack have a shop front?
A. The Wool Shack is an online store only and therefore does not have a shop front. If you would like samples of yarns to gauge accurate colours and textures etc, please do contact us and we will do our best to send you what is available.

If you live locally, and would like to collect your order, we are happy for you to do this. Simply choose the 'local pick up' option when you checkout and we will email you to arrange a collection time and our address (our suburb is Inglewood, for your reference).

Q. What if I am buying goods to be sent as a gift?
A. If you are buying goodies to send to a friend or loved one as a gift, please tick the 'this is a gift' box under the address details, so that we can send the invoice to you rather than the lucky recipient. If we don't receive instructions that the parcel is a gift, the invoice will be sent to the recipient on the front of the parcel.

Q. I am having trouble viewing some of the website pages, what could this be?
A. The most likely answer would be that you are viewing the website using an old browser. Netscape often seems to cause errors on the website, however, if you upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer this should stop any problems you may be having. A. The best way to contact The Wool Shack is via email, info@thewoolshack.com.au, as we will always get back to you as quickly as possible. Please make sure you enter your correct email address in the contact us page, so that our response will get through to you.

Q. Do you offer a Layby Service?
A. Unfortunately we do not offer a layby service on our yarns or small goods. Any orders paid for via money order or EFT, MUST be paid for within a week, otherwise the goods will be put back into stock.

A. Yes, ALL our products are shown online. If a product (yarn/book etc) is not listed, then unfortunately we don't stock it.

Q. Can I order the patterns individually from your pattern selection, or do you have to actually order the book that the pattern is from?
A. Debbie Bliss patterns are sold in book form only. All of our other patterns are loose leaf patterns.

Q. How can I get hold of some shade cards for the yarns The Wool Shack sells?
A. Unfortunately none of our suppliers create shade cards anymore, but we are happy to send snippets of colours where possible. Email us if you are after specific colours.

Q. Can I contact The Wool Shack for advice?
A. Due to the sheer number of enquiries we receive, we are unable to answer any pattern specific questions (ie, how to alter patterns, etc). If you have a knitting query, try visiting our Discussion Boards and posting your question:-

Q. Do you always have stock available?
A. Whilst we always keep a large range of stock, we cannot guarantee that any specific item will be available at all times and some delays in shipping or receipt of goods may occur. We will always contact you by telephone or email to advise you of your options when all or part of your order is not available for immediate dispatch.

A. Whilst we will endeavour to maintain all goods at the prices listed, we reserve the right to change prices, as required, without notice. Should there be a major change to any one item, or the total of items from an order, we will endeavour to advise customers prior to sending the order.

Q. How do I use the Discussion Board?
A. What is a Discussion Board/Forum?

In simple terms, a ‘forum’ is a meeting place or medium for the open discussion of subjects of public interest, and this is exactly what The Wool Shack Discussion Board is. You will also see such forums described as '(electronic) bulletin boards', or 'message boards'. They all mean and do pretty much the same thing.

Looking at it from another perspective – an online forum/discussion board is just like having a shared or public e-mail 'in-box'. Whenever you post a message to the board, it's like sending it to a public 'in-box' where it can be publicly read. Readers of your post can choose to ignore your message (i.e. do nothing), reply to it, or refer back to it at a later date (i.e. who said what and when). The more people use the forum/discussion board, the more the forum starts to evolve into a really useful resource of information and opinions for both new and existing 'members' of the forum.


What do some of the Terms mean?

A 'post' is any message that anyone sends to the forum for public viewing.

A 'topic' is a group of posts that (should) all relate to the same topic of discussion.

In order to participate in a discussion, a visitor to a forum has two choices:

1. Reply to an existing post.
2. Start a new topic of discussion (in the expectation that others will read it and might post a reply).


How to use the Discussion Board:-

#1 - Register:-
First you need to register your details on the discussion board. Registration will give you access to additional features not available to guest users such as private messaging, emailing of fellow users, user group subscription, etc. It only takes a few moments to register so it is recommended you do so.

How do I register?
- Click on the register button at the top of the discussion board page.
- Carefully fill in the details that have an asterisk next to them (*). Your ‘username’ does not have to be your real name, it can be anything you choose (eg, Knitty Nell, etc). If you have a bit of experience in using discussion boards, or want to tell the other users a little more about yourself, feel free to fill in your ‘personal profile’ information if you wish (but this is not obligatory).
- Then choose your ‘preferences’, ie, whether you want people to view your email address when you have posted a message, if you want to be notified of any replies to questions/messages you post, etc. Some of the other preferences are a little technical, so if you are unsure, simply leave them as they are set.
- You will notice that there is a function at the bottom of the register process that enables you to upload an ‘avatar’. An ‘avatar’ is a little photo/image that will represent you. Again, its not obligatory, and probably only worth doing if you have a bit more experience of using discussion boards/forums.
- When all your details are correct, you then click on the ‘submit’ button at the bottom of the registration page.
- You are now ready to ‘Log In”.


#2 – Log In:-
Now you have registered yourself as a Wool Shack Discussion Board Member, you can ‘log in’ and start asking questions, offering advice or opening up new topics.
How do I log on?
- Click on the “Log In” button at the top of the discussion board page.
- Fill in your ‘username’ and ‘password’, and, if you would like to be remembered every time you enter the discussion board, they check the box that says ‘Log me on automatically each visit’.
- If you forget your password, click on the link that says ‘I forgot my password’ below the ‘log in’ button and then enter your username and email address. Your password will then be emailed to you immediately.
- Once you have logged in successfully, you are free to browse the knitting topics, add your own, or reply to existing questions.

How do I post a topic in a forum?
Easy, click the relevant button on either the forum or topic screens. You may need to register before you can post a message, the facilities available to you are listed at the bottom of the forum and topic screens.

Overview:-
To enter a forum: click on it's name
To read the postings of a thread: click on the thread name
To start a new topic of discussion: click the 'new topic' button
To reply to a post (ie. to participate in a topic/discussion): click the 'post reply' button.

What if I have other questions regarding the Discussion Board?

Do’s & Don’ts

What we want to see on the Knitting Discussion Board.

- Questions about a knitting term or technique that is unfamiliar to you (and the answers to those questions).
- Requests for help understanding a knitting pattern that contains an unfamiliar term or technique, or that seems to have an error (we'll help whether it's one of our patterns or not)! Naturally, the explanations offered in response to these requests are welcomed too.
- Knitting recommendations, or new knitting technique discoveries etc.
- General knitting ‘chat’, although do avoid turning the forum into a personal gossip area, as people will be using the board as a comprehensive knitting resource!

What we don’t want to see on the Knitting Discussion Board.

- Abusive language
- My yarn shop/company is having a sale, see our web site…
- Any commercial promotions/plugs etc.

A. All prices are in Australian dollars and include 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST). If you would like to change the currency, please use the currency converter at the bottom of every page. It will enable you to view all the prices on the website in your preferred currency.
